With over 27 years of full time tuition, a distinction in grade 8 rock guitar from the London College of Music and compliments from Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Vai, Marco Pirroni (Adam And The Ants) Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple/Black Sabbath) and Kevin DuBrow (Quiet Riot), Des Sherwood Guitar Tuition provides friendly and experienced tuition in guitar and bass at competitive rates in person and online using Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

From beginners to advanced, I teach electric guitar, acoustic guitar (steel string and classical) and bass guitar. All styles and techniques catered for, (other than Jazz and Country) so feel free to email me through the contact page to arrange some lessons. Des began playing the guitar in 1984 and practiced up to eight hours a day for the next five years. He joined his first ‘proper’ band in ‘89 and has been playing and recording ever since.
He’s played in a variety of original bands and several cover/tribute bands and has done various session work on stage and in the studio.
He has received compliments from people like Sting, Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Vai, Glenn Hughes, Marco Pirroni and Kevin DuBrow and continues to be offered session work.
He established ‘Des Sherwood Guitar Tuition’ in 1997 after being awarded a grant from the Princes Trust and his clients include Marco Pirroni (Adam and the Ants, Sinéad O'Connor, Shakespears Sister) Jon Bently from Channel 5's 'Fifth Gear' and 'The Gadget Show' and 'Diamond Head' and Saxon guitarist Brian Tatler who is ranked by ‘Guitar World Magazine’ at #62 in the top 100 metal guitarists of all time.
Des continues to make a living teaching locally and all around the world via the Internet.
Des has several guitar instrumental albums available on CD and on all platforms such as iTunes, Spotify Amazon MP3 etc. CD's can be ordered through the Contact Page.
I sent my album 'The Music Room' to Steve Vai at his studio in LA. A while later I received a very nice two page letter from him.
"I was delighted to hear your record. You really are quite a good player. The production is very nice and your tone is outstanding. You have a great technique, vibrato, intonation and phrasing. Definitely a cut above so much I do receive. If I was to critique... hmmm, hard to do since you have all the elements nicely in place..."
On page two here writes:
"I have written much because I feel you have something great going on. All the best of luck. Peace, love and good happiness stuff"
